Solitaire Rules

There are four main types of solitaire, a game which has become popular both as a table top card game as well as online. These four games include spider solitaire, freecell solitaire, pyramid solitaire, and Klondike solitaire which is perhaps the most well known and played. In spider solitaire, the player uses two decks and deals out fifty four cards into ten piles placed in tableau format with the top card being placed face up. 6 cards are placed within four piles with the other six piles containing five cards apiece. The game is played by using the top cards in the pile to build a sequence of cards regardless of their suit from King to Ace. If all of the cards in a tableau have been removed, then any grouping of cards can be moved to that spot. Only one card can be moved at a time unless there is a grouping of sequenced cards, which can also be moved. If there are no possible moves that can be made from the face up cards, the left over cards can be dealt onto each pile. After a...

How Is Spider Solitaire Different From Other Solitaire Games?

Image
Spider Solitaire is one of the most popular variations of single-player card games. The game is played with two decks of cards. Like traditional solitaire, the goal is to clear away all cards from the table. However, there are some key differences. First, let's define some terms: Tableau - The tableau refers to the rows and columns of cards where most of the gameplay takes place. In traditional solitaire, the tableau is composed of seven columns. Each column contains a single card placed face up atop a stack of face-down cards. Solitaire is usually played with seven stacks in the tableau, but in Spider Solitaire, there are ten stacks. Foundation - This is where the cards in the tableau are moved to as you proceed through the game. The goal is to get all cards in the foundation area. Stock - These are the remaining cards that aren't dealt when setting up the game. When you can make no more moves with the existing face-up cards in the tableau, you can draw from the stock. Now l...

How To Play Cruel Solitaire

Image
Did you know there are hundreds, if not thousands of solitaire games? You may have heard of some of the more popular ones, such as Freecell, Klondike, Pyramid, or Spider Solitaire. But there are LOTS of other solitaire games as well. One of my favourites is a little- known game called Cruel Solitaire. The aim of cruel solitaire is to build 4 ascending suit sequences in the foundation zone. The opening tableau is made up of 4 foundation stacks (Each containing an Ace), a talon, and 12 manoeuvre stacks, each containing 4 cards. You can move cards in the foundation stack onto cards of the same suit, and one more in rank. For example, you can move a 3 of Clubs onto a 4 of Clubs, or a Queen of Hearts onto a King of Hearts, and a 2 of Spades onto a 3 of Spades. REDEALING IN CRUEL SOLITAIRE... The talon in Cruel Solitaire is unlike the talon in other solitaire games. It doesn't actually deal out any more cards. Instead, it redeals the cards in the manoeuv...

Though the losses are greater in number than the wins, there is the possibility of more frequent wins by using these ten strategy tips. These five tips are: • Always play aces and deuces • Free downcards first • Play longest stack • Keep empty slots • Delay playing to ace stack • Delay moving card numbers 5-8 These five strategies alone will help you increase your wins to a respectable percentage. Many programs online, and the Microsoft versions, keep statistics on the percentage of wins. These strategies will help you raise that percentage. You won't win them all, however! Apply these strategies and watch those wins climb. You just may get less frustrated with the game. Always Play Aces and Deuces Whenever an ace or deuce comes up, play it to the aces pile. Nothing needs to be built on ...

The Basics of Card Games

Image
Introduction: There are many different types of games. All use a deck of cards and have specific rules for the game. The rules of games can vary and different cultures have different games that they play. In general, card games all involve some type of math or matching. Card games can be games based on chance or skill. A deck of playing cards is the one thing that all card games have in common. The typical deck of cards has a total of 52 cards. The cards are divided into four suits, hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades. Each suit of cards has numbered cards from 2 to 10, an ace and four court cards. The four court cards for each suit are the king, queen, knight and jack. A card game begins with the deal. This is when the cards are given to each player. The deck is usually shuffled so that the cards are mixed up and then each player is given a specific number of cards that is based upon the exact game being played.  There are many different ways to deal the cards. Different Types of Card Games

Image
Introduction: There are limitless types of card games to be played. People think because two games use the same deck of 52-cards that they are similar games, but nothing could be more different than Barbu and Speed, or Pai Gow and Pinochle. Here's a list of twenty different kinds of card games, and some facts about them. 1.Bridge Bridge is a popular contract bidding game. Bridge has a culture -- there are websites, newspaper columns, and even radio shows devoted to bridge strategy. There is a world-wide obsession with bridge, even though it has been called the hardest card game in the world. With a complicated strategy and steep learning curve, to many bridge is not just a game, it is a lifestyle. I wish I were exaggerating. 2. Whist Whist could be called "Bridge, Jr" -- and though it is not as big a game as it once was, and is dwarfed in popularity by big-brother Bridge, Whist has never really died out. Card gamers love trick-taking games -- beating out your opponent in ...
